Summary: need per user logging

Initial Comment:
It would be useful to have a built in method that
allowed any message to be sent to a configurable log
file. This should be done on a per user basis.
Ideally there would be a method that could be called
during login to setup the logger/log file and one
method that would close and delete the logger.

Logging should actually use the Python logging module. This has been
already mentioned in "future.txt" and may happen together with other larger
changes only after version 1.0.
